E-cigarettes, also known as electronic cigarettes and vaporizer cigarettes are devices that emit doses of vaporized nicotine that are inhaled. The device is battery-operated and can also emit non-nicotine vaporized solutions. Manufacturers say they are an alternative for tobacco smokers who want to avoid inhaling smoke. Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 different chemicals, many of which are hazardous for human health. Manufacturers and a significant number of users say the e-cigarette provides a similar sensation to inhaling tobacco smoke, however, there is no combustion (no smoke). E-cigarettes are long-shaped tubes, many look like the product the user used to smoke, such as a cigarette, cigar or pipe. Some look like ballpoint pens (biros) and also box style ones. The majority are reusable with replaceable and refillable cartridges. A small percentage of products are throw-away ones - disposable e-cigarettes. The electronic cigarette first entered the market in China in 2004. In 2003, Hon Lik, a pharmacist from China invented the device. Golden Dragon Holdings, the company Lik worked for, started exporting into major markets in 2005-2006. Golden Dragon Holdings changed its name to Ruyan. Most of the current models are manual - as the user presses the button a sensor activates a heating element that vaporizes a liquid solution held in the mouthpiece. The user can choose whether or not to have nicotine in the flavoured liquid solution.

There are various types of atomizers in the industry today. For the most part, the clearomizer or sub-tank which is a cartridge with a built-in atomizer, is the way most people choose to go. Even so, within these atomizers are top-coil, bottom-coil, dual-coil, horizontal and vertical coil atomizers to name a few. To put it simply, the atomizer, whether built into a clearomizer or subtank or in a stand-alone design, uses a heating element (usually a very small gauge wire) to vaporize the e-liquid. If you are more of a technically minded person then let's try this explanation. Looking at the atomizer you have a wire which is connected to a circuit board as well as a power supply. The circuit board (when activated by a push of a button) sends power to two places. The first is a heating element (the thin wire) and the second is a micro-pump located within the atomizer. The pump forces the e-liquid through the atomizer where the heating element is located. As the e-liquid passes this it is vaporized. This process continues until the user stops sucking or the button is released. Different models function slightly different.

Anti-smoking activists like to highlight the dramatic use of ingredients found in tobacco cigarette smoke.
Hydrogen cyanide, for example, was used in Nazi death camps, while another, formaldehyde, has been used to preserve corpses). However, it is the way you use tobacco cigarettes which cause the problem.
When you burn tobacco, you produce smoke. As the smoke cools down, it produces both tar and hundreds of chemicals. Indeed, according to tobacco harm reduction experts, we have yet to identify many of the chemicals in cigarette smoke. We do know that dozens of them are carcinogenic. Electronic Cigarette Safety

Fortunately, and in contrast to tobacco cigs, there’s no combustion with e-cigs. In contrast, and after a number of analyses, we know exactly what is in electronic cigarettes. The principal ingredient is propylene glycol, which is used in dozens of applications, including medicine, asthma inhalers, cosmetics, foods, to sterilise drinking water, in air-conditioners – and to produce stage smoke!
Propylene glycol has been used since the mid-20th century, and is generally considered safe for inhalation. It’s even been used to sterilise the air in children’s wards.  However, a small minority of people may be allergic to it. (If you are allergic to propylene glycol, try using vegetable glycerine instead.) Vegetable Glycerine has also been analysed by scientists, and considered safe for inhalation. Most e-cigarettes also contain nicotine. While not entirely healthy (its effects are similar to caffeine), nicotine is not carcinogenic, and carries a fraction of the risk of burning tobacco. (For more information see: Nicotine: 10 facts all users should know.)

In a study summarising the analyses of the electronic cigarette, Professor Siegel concluded:
none of the more than 10,000 chemicals present in tobacco smoke, including over 40 known carcinogens, has been shown to be present in the cartridge or vapour of electronic cigarettes in anything greater than trace quality … they [electronic cigarettes] are undoubtedly safer than tobacco cigarettes.

The figures I’m using here are based on a low to medium priced packet of cigarettes in comparison to the average price of e-cigarettes and the cartridges used to get the same amount of smoking experience out of them. Lets Look At The Savings For E-Cigs

Say, for instance, you smoke 10 cigarettes a day. This will cost you roughly $361.63, or £227.10 if you happen to be in the UK, a year in e-cigarettes.
To buy the real thing, it will cost you over £1000. That’s a saving of around £770 a year, or £14-£15 a week if you switch to e-cigarettes.

Smoking 20 a day will set you back over £2000 a year, as opposed to approx £410, on e-cigarettes and cartridges. You are saving yourself around £1500 every year if you switch. That, by the way, is about £30 a week. Remember, these figures are just approximate figures, you could save more or less depending on the brand of cigarettes you smoke and of course how many you smoke. If you favor a more expensive brand, or smoke 30 or 40 cigarettes a day – which many people do – you can save well over £3000 a year by switching to e-cigarettes.

So, not only does smoking e-cigarettes actually improve your health by not filling your lungs with tar, glue, carcinogens and who-knows what other toxins – as well as obviously keeping the air clean for everybody else around you – it also saves you a packet, if you’ll pardon the pun there.
Considering even the highest price for e-cigarettes and the cartridges, it will be repaid within a few weeks and then it is a matter of save, save, save. Or at least so one would think, after all, we’re no longer spending the money, are we?

The rechargeable pen style
piece is a step up from that simpler design. It contains a rechargeable battery and cable, a clearomizer, and a drip section at the end that is used for inhalation. These devices sometimes contain an empty tank in the clearomizer section that you can fill with your favourite e-juice.
These devices are generally considered to be mid-sized, since they are about the size of a cigar or a fine writing pen. In fact, they are often referred to as “vape pens” because even their appearance closely resembles that writing instrument.
They offer a number of advantages over disposables and the simpler two-piece units, including expanded battery life, increased vapour production, and wider access to flavour choices.
They are usually slightly more expensive than both disposables and the two-piece, but still well within most vapers’ budgets.

Advanced Personal Vaporizers (APVs) or Mods
For many Vapers, the clearomizer option meets their needs so well that they simply continue to use those products long-term. For those who want an even richer vaping experience, however, there is an even more technologically innovative solution: the advanced personal vaporizer, or APV. These devices are also referred to as “mods” by many in the vaping community, and have a reputation for providing the ultimate in vaping enjoyment. These advanced devices come in different sizes and shapes too, ranging from a small box to a large cylinder. The battery is often known as a box mod, but they often come as a complete kit. They come with a high degree of customization options, and detailed controls that maximize your ability to personalize both the device and your vaping experience. They also offer the benefits associated with more powerful batteries that enable more energy to be drawn by the coils, empowering users to achieve even greater vapour volume.
Customization and control options offer users a variety of choices: Many starter kits come with different coil options, so that you can better control the way the device operates.
The voltage or wattage settings can be adjusted to ensure that you get the results you want. Devices tend to come with an electronic display that provides access to settings while assisting you in your monitoring of the device.
Different tank sizes are available – though different tanks may not be compatible with your chosen device; do your homework before making any purchase. Because there are so many customization options, these units are the preferred choice for people who like to tinker with their e-cigarettes, as well as those who prefer different types of vaping experiences. .

Smoking is perhaps one of the most personal choices out there.  If you’ve ever tried your buddy’s brand of cigarettes, then you already know this.  The same can be said for e-cigs.  Before you jump into the smokeless life, you probably want to know which is the best electronic cigarette for you, based on several factors… Cheapest Electronic Cigarette Unfortunately, money is more of a concern for a lot of us these days.  And, while smokeless cigarettes are all cheaper than traditional cigarettes, you probably want to save as much as you can.  Without compromising on quality or safety, you’ll want to find the e-cigarette that offers the best value for your needs. E-Cig Flavors Flavor is the most influential factor in determining brand loyalty in traditional cigarettes, so you probably don’t want to be limited to just a few flavors from an e-cig manufacturer.  Many of the brands reviewed on offer a wide array of flavors.  You can also snag the variety pack if you’re unsure which flavor would fit you best. E-Cig Guarantees Even the best electronic cigarette is bound to have an issue at some point.  The top brands recognize this fact, even though they strive to have the most durable and technologically advanced e-cig on the market.  So, many are happy to offer a full lifetime warranty on their e-cig batteries.

Taking care of your atomizer to maximize performance and durability can be effective by taking some of the simple following steps Do not allow your atomizer to get hot or over heated. Taking casual draws of vapour from your electronic cigarette device with distant intervals between each puff will prevent the atomizer from over-heating and causing damage the elements inside. Keep your atomizer topped up with e-liquid, and do not allow the atomizer to run dry. An empty atomizer with no e-liquid inside can cause damage to the atomizer if activated continuously. So please keep an eye on your e-liquid level in your atomizer or cartomizer. We always advise you to keep some supply of atomizers at hand so as to not interrupt your vaping experience should an atomizer come to the end of its life.

Use special caution when working with Li-ion cells, they are very sensitive to charging characteristics and may explode or burn if mishandled. Make sure the user has enough knowledge of Li-ion rechargeable batteries in charging, discharging and assembly before use. Always charge in/on a fire-proof surface. Never leave charging batteries unattended. Never continue to use an e-cigarette type device if you can feel the battery get hot. If your battery gets hot to the touch, or if it begins smelling: DO NOT USE IT ANYMORE. Let it cool down (1 hour) in a safe environment (outside preferably), and then dispose of correctly, or make arrangements to return, if still under warranty. If your e-cigarette or device begins activating itself, immediately remove your atomiser and disconnect the battery. Do NOT trust the battery, nor the atomiser anymore from this point on. This means never leave either of the components connected in your pocket, in your nightstand, or out of visibility where you can not immediately separate the two components. Read the information found at: Battery University before purchasing. It is important to carry batteries properly, charge properly, and dispose of properly. MY LUNAR UK LTD is not responsible for damage if there is any modification of the batteries/chargers in any form or shape (including pack making). We are not responsible for any damage caused by misuse or mishandling of Li-Ion batteries and chargers. We will not be held responsible or liable for any injury, damage, or defect, permanent or temporary that may be caused by the use of any batteries.

It is perfectly legal to take e-cigarettes on planes, but we would recommend that you check with the airline before you fly to prevent confiscation or confusion.
